Alianza Spartanburg is a social impact network that works to facilitate, encourage, and promote the inclusion of members of the Hispanic/Latinx community in improving quality of life in Spartanburg County. About Alianza

How we are co-creating change.

Our collaborators have worked to …

  • Increase Latinx & Alianza collaborator representation on boards in Spartanburg and SC across activities and sectors. Our collaborators serve on over two dozen boards that support mental and behavioral health, youth services, racial equity, the arts, grantmaking and philanthropy, and more.

  • Increase Latinx participation in local leadership initiatives

  • Foster a social ecosystem for Latinx and community. Co-created efforts have included the launch of PASOs Spartanburg Community Health Worker program (now Vida y Salud), the first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in a local school district, a fund for direct assistance during COVID-19 pandemic, and language-inclusive, participatory, community-based research with college-based research teams.

  • Take direct action, educate, and advocate for language justice and language access; access to higher education and professional licensures for individuals with DACA; relief in the wake of natural disasters; voter education; and support for unaccompanied children.

  • Share joy and celebrate, including co-sponsoring community-wide events like Juneteenth and Cinco de Mayo.
